one thing i've noticed right away is that new members can't post any links for 7 days after they've registered.

I was notified of this issue at some time of exploring the administrative functions, and have no idea how to fix it. I've searched the user rights area and haven't located such an option. It's likely to just be a precaution against spammers, although I feel 7 days is a little too long.

If you or anyone can point me to the section where I may find it, please do. I'll lower the time to 3 days - I think that's acceptable to retain security while giving non-abusing users their rights.

after a bit of exploring on LE's admin panel, i found it in general => forum => security. you can only turn it on and off, though, not reduce the time.

I suppose, at this point, is it critical to have? I understand the purpose of links, but I've encountered egregious spammers on other forums, and if I'm not online for a majority of the day, due to a job, I certainly would need either that precaution in place, or another moderator or two.

To be perfectly honest, I'm hesitant about signing another moderator - not because I don't want it done. In contrast, I fully expect to do it in the future. I just want to completely ensure I sign the right person, and I don't believe I have enough of a pool to decide from just yet, however much I may trust some of you. I hope that's understandable, but in the meantime, my query stands.

How much is the ability to post links wanted?

i'd prefer to have the links, since it really messes up my signature in addition to the whole "no links 4 u" thing. it's your call, though.

also, i originally thought this was missing, but it turns out that you CAN delete your own posts. there's a checkbox at the very bottom of the page when you go to edit a post that you can click to delete the message. i'd never have noticed that without leaving my cursor hovered over the edit button, since i'm so used to just having LE's little delete button, so i thought i'd put it here so people know.

I'll set the links active, then. If they ever become a problem, I'll close the option, but chances are that you four will have been here for more than a week by then, anyways, making the whole deal moot.

feefs here again, with a couple of new ideas. I think adding a drafts function to this place would be very helpful. it should be an option you can turn on in the admin panel somewhere, and it would make posting for those of us who are waiting on people or don't have time to sit down and write a post in one sitting a lot easier.

another thing that would be nice to have is a comments section, which according to the admin tutorial i read days ago, is added as a custom profile field. it'd just be nice to have it to store my other info stuff and useless achievements. just a thought, of course~
